The handwoven textile industry has been in existence since time immemorial. It is a huge global commodity for India. A wide variety of apparel ranging from drapes to coat, jackets and cotton kurtas and sarees in hand woven fabric are being created out of tribal textiles today. The cotton Kurtas/Kurtis are made from fabric, which is first hand woven and then hand stitched by the Bodo tribe of Assam. The patterns on the neck and sleeves are made by way of patch work with other hand woven fabrics.
