Tribs India Jaipur Cotton Block Print Kurta

This ladies kurta is a combination of Kantha and hand block print. Rajasthan is the famous centre of hand block print in India. Its soil & climate provide a perfect blend for this exclusive style of printing. This print is a combination of limestone, pomegranate, indigo, clay & gum. After the dyed fabric is left for drying, the dried fabric is stamped with wooden blocks. Kantha is a form of embroidery often practised by the Bheel tribes of Rajasthan. The traditional form of Kantha embroidery was done with soft dhotis and saris, with a simple running stitch along the edges. Motifs of Kantha work are straight lines, on the edges of block prints.
