Tribes India presents Palm Leaf Engraving, known as Pattachitra, which is an ancient craft that still thrives in the state of Odisha in India. These etchings are treasured as decorations and hold deep messages and tales of devotion. Shri Radha and Krishna, Maa Durga, Lord Ganesha and Goddess Saraswati are the most commonly used themes. Leaves are stitched together and undergo an entire process to season them. The etching is done with an iron pen and then a natural paste is rubbed onto the leaves to highlight the figures.

This is a traditional Pattachitra painting. Another form of Pattachitra, apart from painting on the cloth, is the most amazing engravings over a palm leaf. This very complicated art form is done on dried palm leaves and stitched up together to look for a canvas. These amazingly beautiful intricacies are delicately done as one small move can destroy their entire creativity.
